Another question about webmail
« on: March 26, 2010, 01:47:19 PM »
There is already a thread about webmail in this forum, but I think it would be off topic if I post this question on the thread.

So, my favorite webmail is Horde, and I mostly use it to check my inbox. I notice that if I delete an email, the email is not removed from the list. It still appears there as a struck through line.  Is there anyway to remove or hide the line from the list?

Are you talking about removing the messages from the server or just the Horde inbox?

Well, I guess both? I just want to get rid of those emails because I don't need them anymore. But your question makes me curious. Is there any difference between both actions?

Not all are always aware but in many of the e-mail clients/programs out there your email is not permanently deleted. This is why in Outlook for example, you can hold down shift and hit delete (otherwise its just sitting in the Delete Folder until you clear that out). :)

Wow, thanks so much for the prompt response and the explanation. Here is the screenshot of my inbox page. As if you don't know, the struck out lines indicate the emails which I have deleted. So, how to delete the emails permanently and remove them from both the Horde inbox and the server?

Horde works with imap and has an link to "Expunge" deleted items. When you click that link it will remove all of the items with a line through them.

Thank so much for the info. I just checked it and found the link you mentioned. It's named Purge Deleted, located on the top right of the inbox page. I clicked the link and all deleted emails were removed now. Thanks again.

Outlook, in my opinion is probably the best web client on the market. If you have several email accounts, just integrate them to your Outlook or Outlook Express.
