so it is called squatting because they are kind of in limbo and not bought by anyone?  Am I getting this right?  This is so confusing sometimes.
never over look the opportunity to tell someone you love them because you never know when they will be taken from you.

That is one reason to park domains.  But, also as Dave says, it is a great way to track your advertising.  You can advertise "abc.com" one way and "def.com" another way, and see which is most effective at getting traffic.  Alternate spellings is another good reasons.  If people commonly misspell a word that is in your domain name, buy the alternate spelling - that way they can still find you.  Like "bestfriends.com"  and "bestfreinds.com"

Well it's not so much the fact that they're in limbo but more that the person or company who bought them mainly did so with the intention of selling it to someone who actually plans on using the name for their website at a fee and often, they're striving to make some decent profit off it.
